Evan has been a partner with Feldstein & Associates LLP since 2022. He started in public practice in 2014 working in Ernst and Young’s  private clients audit group and later moved to their private clients tax services group.

Evan has significant experience in Canadian tax planning for owner-managed businesses.

A few examples of services Evan provides include:

  • Mergers and acquisitions: Clients looking to acquire or divest a business in Canada and internationally rely on Evan to identify tax and other issues when completing a contemplated transaction. Evan has completed over 25 transactions with over $1 billion CAD in transaction value. Evan offers a variety of services including tax due diligence, assistance with review of the purchase agreement, and tax structuring for the sale/purchase of the business.
  • Capital gains exemptions: Evan works with clients to establish family trust structures in order to allow multiple family members to access the lifetime capital gains exemption on a sale of a family business. He also provides ongoing review to make sure that the company’s balance sheet remains purified.
  • Real Estate: Evan works with clients to effectively structure real estate purchases and transfers with consideration given to income tax, GST/HST, land transfer tax, and other ongoing reporting obligations.
  • Post-mortem planning: Evan works with the executors of an estate to understand the assets owned at the time of death and the estate’s associated tax liabilities. He also provides tax structuring where private company shares are owned at the time of death.
  • Foreign taxes: Evan provides advice to clients regarding Canadian individuals moving to or working in the United States, foreign companies investing in Canada, and Canadian companies setting up foreign subsidiaries.

Evan was an honour roll recipient on the 2015 CFE.

Evan graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University in 2014 and obtained his CPA, CA designation in 2017. He completed the CPA In Depth Tax program in 2020.
